Charles James’s sculptural and geometric approach to fashion offers a way to consider mass and line. In Champagne Bow, the large upper detail first captures the eye; the patterned surface then leads it towards an uneven hem. Sara’s drawing balances a clear focal point with a changing visual path. The bow becomes the beginning of a larger composition, given room and emphasis by the dress’s length.
