THE STORY BEHIND THE LINE
The Lightness of an Idea
An editorial reading in dialogue with Issey Miyake
Issey Miyake made pleating a field of exploration into clothing and movement. That perspective invites a closer look at Pale Yellow Folds, where the neckline and hip carry much of the expression against an uncluttered colour field. The eye moves from gathered lines to the length of the skirt. Sara’s drawing suggests how a small number of carefully placed gestures can give a design a clear presence.
